Halal certification process

FORMAL APPLICATION:
The customer applies for a halal certificate by filling out an application at https://www.halalcertification.se/application. In response, the customer receives a link to important documents with the requirements for certification. The customer also gets access to the form for a formal application.
CONFIRMATION:
When the customer sends back all the documentation and pays the processing fee, the customer receives a confirmation. We then return with a cost proposal on what the halal certificate will cost before we start examining the application.
EXAMINATION OF THE APPLICATION:
When the customer approves the cost proposal in writing, we start going through the application and review the content. If something is missing, we ask the customer to complete the application. If any ingredient/process is not approved, the customer will receive suggestions for action. However, if the application is approved, we will come for first time on-site audit.
FIRST AUDIT (ON-SITE AUDIT):
We book time in advance to come for audit. Two auditors will come to review the production plant and review the manufacturing process. In case of doubt, samples are taken on site and sent to outside analysis laboratory for analysis. The cost of audit is on the customer.
HALAL CERTIFICATE ISSUED:
Our inspectors submit an audit report to our Sharia Supervisory Board for approval after the inspection. A halal certificate is issued if the report is approved otherwise the application is rejected with proposals for appropriate measures. If the customer carries out the proposed measures regarding the production plant/production process, a halal certificate will be issued.
AGREEMENT:
In relation to the halal certificate, we sign an agreement that governs our cooperation and agreement.
AUDITS AND INSPECTIONS:
The audit takes place every two years in line with the terms as set out in the Certification Scheme. In addition one unannounced inspection will be performed per year only in case of slaughter houses.
RENEWAL
The Halal certificate is valid for one year and must be renewed every year in order to be valid.
